Boylan Code’s Corporate Attorneys Educate Startups in the Luminate Accelerator on Business Organization.

On July 25, 2023, Boylan Code Partner J. Michael Wood and Associate John Otruba presented to Luminate’s most recent cohort of founders on the various types of business entities and the issues to consider when choosing a business entity and state of formation.

Luminate NY, a program of NextCorps based here in Rochester, is a startup accelerator focused on advancing companies that are developing industry-changing technologies enabled by optics, photonics, and imaging. Annually, ten companies receive an initial $100,000 investment upon acceptance into the accelerator program, with an additional $2 million available to the best companies per cohort. In addition, the companies receive coaching, over 50 educational workshops, and connections from Luminate’s extensive network of domain experts, corporate sponsors, investors, and more.

Both Wood and Otruba are members of the firm’s Corporate Department and represent clients in a wide range of business transaction matters, including business formation, financing, business acquisitions and sales, governance, general contracts, employment agreements, and intellectual property matters.
